Position Details
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Cook to join our Palm Lake Resort Bargara team. This role plays a vital part in delivering high quality meals and service to our residents and guests while ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment.
This is a Full time position, working 38 hours per week on a Monday to Friday roster covering both AM and PM shifts delivering lunch and dinner services to our residents.
Responsibilities
Plan and prepare menus in consultation with resort management, taking into account resident preferences, seasonal produce, minimal wastage, and budget constraints.
Order ingredients and check deliveries for accuracy and quality.
Prepare, cook, and serve weekly meals and bistro lunches.
Cater for special functions and events as required.
Bake sweets, biscuits, and cakes.
Maintain a strong understanding of Food Safety legislation and ensure compliance at all times.
Supervise food handling to guarantee safe and hygienic preparation and service.
Manage stock rotation, monitor storage temperatures, and prevent food waste.
Keep the kitchen clean, hygienic, and compliant with council standards, including regular cleaning of equipment and storage areas.
Ensure all safety requirements are met when operating kitchen equipment and machinery.
Work collaboratively with the team and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient workplace.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a Cook who shares our values of respect, passion, community, impact, and safety.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and Cert III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
Proven experience in food preparation and service, preferably in a commercial or residential setting.
A pleasant manner, neat presentation, and a strong work ethic.
Flexibility, patience, and understanding toward elderly residents.
The ability to work independently and within a team environment.
A proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated attitude.
Willingness to work weekends and flexible hours as needed.
