The Role

We are looking for a practical, reliable Maintenance Officer to join our team at Palm Lake Care Mount Warren Park. This role would suit someone who has worked as a handyman, trade assistant, maintenance worker, painter, plasterer, carpenter, property maintenance worker or general repairs person.

You do not need to be a licensed tradesperson across every area. We are looking for someone who is confident using tools, can complete patch work and general maintenance to a neat standard, and knows when a bigger job needs a qualified contractor.

This role will also see you building relationships with the entire team and residents within our community. Along with being great with tools and problem solving, you are positive, understanding and patient.

In this role, you will:

  • Complete day-to-day maintenance requests across the aged care home.
  • Carry out patch work, minor repairs, basic carpentry, painting touch-ups and general building upkeep.
  • Check common areas, resident areas, grounds, plant and equipment to help keep the site safe and well presented.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Report hazards, maintenance risks and follow-up needs clearly.
  • Work with the Service Manager to prioritise jobs and keep things moving.
  • Organise and support contractors for larger, specialist or licensed works.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in handyman work, general maintenance, building repairs or another hands-on role.
  • Ability to complete patching, minor repairs and general upkeep safely and neatly.
  • Confidence using basic tools and maintenance equipment.
  • A reliable, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently.
  • Respectful communication when working around elderly residents, families, visitors and staff.
  • A current manual C-class driver’s licence.
  • A current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Certificate III in Workplace Health and Safety is desirable, but not essential.
